What is the NGN?
We are a new non-profit indigenous-led network ensuring First Nations Guardians, who care for lands and waters, have all the tools they need to thrive. We’re making waves as the first Indigenous-led national stewardship network in the world!
Among several of our projects, NGN is creating a streamlined process for Guardians to apply for support through an application process that is shaped by First Nations perspectives and Guardians’ lived experience.
What is the NCS fund?
The NCS fund stems from Environment and Climate Change Canada (ECCC) funds and aims to empower First Nations communities and organizations to build capacity and undertake on-the-ground activities for ecological restoration, improved land management, and conservation. We’re talking about actions that lock away carbon and give biodiversity, climate resilience, and our well-being a healthy improvement.
ECCC is transitioning the management of the NCS fund to NGN to establish a new kind of partnership between First Nations and Canada—one that focuses on reconciliation and enables First Nations to come together on equal footing to care for lands and waters.
